US Air Force Spends $1,000 for a Bag of Springs

I just got the following email forwarded from a friend in one of the political Meetups I am a member of.
Below is a message I received from a friend of mine that is in the Air Force. To give you a slight background, the Air Force is currently spending money on new fighters (F-22) and embroiled in scandal due to tanker issues of which I’m sure you’re aware. To really get the true message on this one, this comes from the nuclear weapons arena (which a quick google of Minot Air Force, and nuclear will prove is not the shining star of the branch these days). Much of the problems in the Air Force today stem from not allocating the money in the proper areas and cutting manning for new toys and back door deals. With that in mind I know that you will enjoy this one.
Here is the text of that forwarded message:
These are pictures of a bag of springs I ordered as an IMPAC card holder for Mat Control. They are simply ordinary springs like what you might find on a lawnmower throttle. Nothing special. They are for the new work cages. There are 35 in the bag. The bag in my hand cost us, the taxpayers, $1,000. That’s one THOUSAND dollars. Each spring was about 30 bucks. Feel free to vomit and then forward to everyone you know. More government idiocy to follow.

As the anonymous tipper from inside the USAF says, hopefully more info on ridiculous military spending will be forthcoming.
